EdgeMethods has been granted ISO42001 certification following an audit by NQA and endorsed by UKAS.
As customers begin to roll out AI solutions, there is growing demand for trust in how those solutions are built and used. Obviously the AI output is important, but so is the data that is used, the potential far-reaching impacts, and whether the solution is living up to expectations. Over time, organisations will be expected to comply with AI regulatory controls, customers and users will need to trust in AI-driven solutions, and business leaders will need to manage risks and scale of AI. ISO42001 provides a structured AI Management System, similar to how ISO27001 addresses security, that helps organisations move AI from isolated experiments into a managed business capability with defined policies, responsibilities, controls, monitoring, and continual improvement.
EdgeMethods directly provides AI products and solutions as part of standard or bespoke offerings. These are included as part of the scope of ISO42001, giving EdgeMethods’ customers the confidence that the solutions are not just isolated experiments, but part of a closely managed, controlled, and documented development and operational environment. These solutions, as included in the ISO42001 scope, are directly linked with the EdgeMethods platform for streaming data ingestion and take advantage of EdgeMethods platform features and product development, platform operations, and related ISO27001 information security practices. Practically, this means that data governance and traceability of data, including end-to-end lineage, data quality, and data provenance that is needed by AI solutions are already built-in to the platform.
Because a significant part of EdgeMethods’ ISO42001 scope includes the platform, it means that platform AI features are available to our customers’ own AI solutions that they may build on the data that is processed by the EdgeMethods platform. This means that customers can confidently build solutions that have a strong foundation for their own ISO42001 certification or other AI regulatory compliance that needs to be met as EdgeMethods forms part of a ISO42001-compliant supply chain that includes Microsoft.
Involvement of customers is an important part of the EdgeMethods controls, where AI impact assessments, performance metrics, and other information is actively shared.
